It is utterly insane how electric Jetcity Records can make a twenty-two track project sound. With their long-awaited debut, “Welcome To Jet City”, this high-flying Hip-Hop collective takes compilation albums to new, modern-trap heights.

Peep the sweet video interview with JetCity Records:

Almost every track on “Welcome To Jet City” is a profound posse cut. Loco 2k, Nucky JMC, Rup Monsta, Skyler, Big Ox, Aye Michelle, and Ag Souljah are the prominent pyromaniacs of the album; blazing through hooks and verses with lyricism and inflections that keep the energy at an all time high. What is likewise captivating about “Welcome To Jet City” is that it is not a constant stream of original content. Rocking the ride, every now and then, is the turbulence of mainstream remixes. “Thotiana” by Blueface; “Lil Bebe” by Danileigh; “Middle Child” by J Cole; “Going Bad” by Meek Mill and Drake; each one of these records are terrifically remixed by the talents on this album, steering it into clouds of spontaneous exhilaration. Certainly, “Welcome To Jet City” may intimidate you with the length of its tracklist. However, once play is pressed, and the debut opus truly takes off, you will not regret a single song. With such an invigorating list of bangers, this soaring collective simply cannot be shot down.

Are we living a dream or reality? The latest effort by LIV3 FR33, a Los Angeles brand spearheaded by producer-artist, NIU Kno, blurs that line with excellence. For “Life, Is But A Dream”, a compilation album outfitted with nine, lucid tracks, the artist(s) gives the themes of sleep, dreaming, and afterlife, sonic prevalence. Its features lunge from Fatlip, 777Kamikaze and Kay Franklin to Mary Dee, Korryn Gaines and NIU Kno himself, with each one of these artists delivering an idiosyncratic twist to the overall concept of the project. Samples are lush and plentiful; drums frolic in the fields of both trap and boom-bap; and the bars on “Life...” are beyond bewildering. Spin joints such as “Sleepwalking”, “Sunshine”, “Virtual Insanity”, or even the penultimate record “Walk Str8”, and the reverie of life will equivalently reveal itself to you. For “Life, Is But A Dream” is an unavoidable epiphany that LIV3 FR33 flawlessly inspires.

TheSirDuke’s newest track, “Salute”, is an anthemic tribute to ‘boss ladies’ worldwide. Running at three minutes with a music video that has already amassed four thousand views, this Windy City banger is almost as powerful as the women it praises. At first, it is introduced by a pounding percussion; an omen to the musical magic that awaits you. Ten seconds in, a profound bass-line impacts the mix, and simultaneously our Chicago emcee leaps into his verse. For every bar he spits, celebrating independent, hard-working women, TheSirDuke is rewarded with the tap of a snare, kick, and sprinkle of melodic tines that flavor his chorus. The way “Salute” ultimately comes together, by these means, is nothing short of awesome. Just as our incredible ‘boss ladies’ worldwide have built themselves from the ground up, “Salute” musically builds, likewise. In three minutes, it transforms from this persistent pound of a percussion into a thunderous, modern-trap smash. One that, if TheSirDuke ever performs it, will have every powerful lady in the audience feeling beyond valued. If you haven’t already, give TheSirDuke’s latest a listen with its music video, and be on the look out for his upcoming project, “N-Evitable”, dropping any day now.

“All in my face, ‘cuz they wanna ride my wave!” When first starting up, Zero The Kidd’s “Wave” will mislead you. By its watery, ambient synth and tame, auto-tuned intro, you will be convinced that this single is yet another calm pool of modern-trap majesty. It is fitting that Zero’s home is Boynton Beach, Florida; for this track is an inescapable tsunami of sound. Washing freshly across your speakers, from the shores of the Sunshine State, “Wave” commands a radio-ready swagger not easily accomplished. Swimming through kicks, snares and hats, Zero The Kidd makes an impressive splash on the record; unleashing a stream of bars and melodies that will enliven anyone who hears them. So much so, that it is certain “Wave” will add another million plays to the ten million Zero has already acquired. Your summer needed this! A vibrant, bass-bouncing anthem that will light your next house party on fire. With three minutes of slick rap, and alternative trap production, that is precisely what BT The Artist provides. “Hunny”— his amorous May hit— is the theme song to every romance that has blossomed this season; and through its capacious sound, will be a banger for many summers to come. BT needs no assistance on this record, vying instead to totally enliven the track on his own. Between bars about pursuing a potential significant other, whilst lyrically coasting this danceable beat, the Massachusetts rapper likewise calls attention to his Hispanic background. Beautifully, he spins references to ‘Bachata’, ‘Pasada’ and ‘Salsa’—extremely meaningful dances in Hispanic culture— into one of his verses, backed by a party-rocking chant that frequents his chorus. This style of songwriting truly attributes to the rhythm of the song, gifting “Hunny” a pleasurable and dance-ready aura few, independent songs can acquire. BT The Artist’s latest amazement could easily scale the Pop charts; and if the right hands were behind him, pushing along the way, this East Coast emcee could easily be mainstream. With that success, he’ll be giving the game exactly what it needs: supreme lyricism over spirited instrumentals. Press play, and make your summer better than before with “Hunny”.

Recent Interview:

Eighteen years ago, Melvin— in the classic urban drama, “Baby Boy”— gave us some profound insight. Now, eighteen years later, an Orlando rapper is making sure to remind us of that lecture; and drive its point even farther forward than before. For Playboy Ronnie, its paramount to remind his friends and foes of the importance of “Guns And Butter”; and his four-minute, July drop flawlessly does so. Introduced by a sample of that iconic convo, and featuring the likes of 2Tooly, “Gunz And Butter” is a hardbody, street anthem.

An airy melody is splashed by thunderous drums and 808s, whom yield only to the auto-tuned inflections of the two artists coasting them. The hook is unspeakably superb— styled by the grittiness of its delivery, catchiness of its melody, and smoothness of its street-hardened bars. “Guns And Butter” is unlike anything else bubbling in The Sunshine State; and its creator, unlike any other rapper repping Orlando. With a record as distinct and radio-ready as this, its hard to imagine anyone forgetting Melvin’s legendary lesson. Likewise, hard to imagine Playboy Ronnie and 2Tooly not rising to the top.

“Riding through the city, I move slowly now...” when Legendz Gc utters this bar, in the midst of a bouncy, electronic melody, it resonates amazingly. Likewise, when Drake’s co-signed talent, Chromazz, adds her featured spin to this hook, its catchiness grows tenfold; making this latest drop, “Ride” downright irresistible. The record is threaded with a tropical, dancehall beat and hip-rolling 808s. Stitching those threads together, are the stunning performances of Legendz Gc and Chromazz themselves. Mercilessly, they ravage the instrumental; spitting barrages of bars at the drop of a verse. Where Legendz Gc asserts his dominance over the Montreal Hip-Hop seen with a charismatic verse; Chromazz proves to wield one of the most infectious deliveries and flows in Toronto. Together, they give The North another summer banger. One that— through its incredible Caribbean beat, bar-heavy verses, and contagious, sing-song chorus— will have every club in Canada bouncing in sync.
