“You see the haters coming?! You hear the hate?!” They have made a legacy out of championing success. Albeit before, they leaned in a financial direction, with their latest single, Koinda Records is spotlighting a different avenue of accomplishment. Charged by the energetically phenomenal emcee, Ace Burns (who heads the label), Koinda presents “Boss Fit”— an anthemic banger aimed to push the ladies through their fall flexes and winter workouts, closing 2019.

Yes, essentially, “Boss Fit” is a gym smash; dedicated particularly to health/fitness and physical achievement. It sports a spirited, almost electronic melody that is boomed by 808s and trap percussions. Ace Burns blends seamlessly into this See See Beats-produced world of sounds with an even greater blitz of power; delivering a torrent of well-timed, motivating rhymes. Perhaps the biggest gym anthem since Kanye West’s “Workout Plan”, “Boss Fit” is a titanic tribute to female trainers and trainees worldwide. Likewise, it is another push for Ace Burns, and his Koinda imprint, towards spreading inspiration, with zero hesitation, across the globe.

Straight from Ugly Faces Entertainment is the most explosive World record you will hear all year. Defying the patriarchy of her continent’s music circuit, Elly The 22 has released “Candy”; and established the prowess of female energy by doing so. As fun and commercial as this Afrobeat single is, it is likewise evidence of tremendous talent on Elly’s part. Singlehandedly, this Ghanan artist brings both singing and rapping to the table; and annihilates both with flawless precision. After clever, bar-heavy verses, she lunges into an impeccably melodious chorus. One that eternalizes the spirit of summer, with its vibrance and torrid captivation. “I want that candy, yeah!” This song is a catchy celebration of love and attraction, totally embodying the dint of emotions you feel when that special someone crosses your path. Currently, “Candy” is the sweetest thing on international airwaves. Once you get a taste of Elly The 22, and her latest creation, you’ll swiftly return for more.

The death of Maddie Finch, in the first hours of the new year 2018, shook the quaint suburb of La Harpe, Illinois in ways we can not adequately convey. When she was fatally shot inside of her home, the entire, Hancock County mourned. So strongly, in fact, that their grief stretched to the metropolis of Chicago, where an extraordinary emcee was moved to pay homage. That extraordinary emcee is Zip Dot; and that payment of honor is the video to his poignant, new opus— “Used To”.

This record braves such a command over introspection and heartbreaking emotion that few will be able to contest its overwhelmingness. A melancholic ripple of rhodes chords is peppered by the tap of kicks and rimshots; over which, this Baltimore-born, Naperville-repping rapper, floats with lyrical supremacy. With subjects ranging from thoughts of self-harm, to broken romances, and Zip’s untouchable faith in rap, “Used To” is a fantastically vulnerable record. It is the epitome of openheartedness, with a video whose tribute does it even more justice. For Zip Dot, Maddie Finch, and the Stop The Violence movement as a whole, give “Used To” a spin; and stay alert for the next drop this amazing emcee has in store.

“It’s been a while since I first saw you, something about that kiss...” For those of us who have had tremendous romantic encounters, these words from Chris Knite are a blast down memory lane. “Your pretty smile, girl, I can’t front it; Girl, I reminisce...” By the beam of his star-striking chorus, we are warped into complete recollection of that special someone; and reminded of the very moment each and everyone of us knew we were “Ready For Love”.

Native and nigh-tropical percussions keep this enamored power at a constant throughout the record. Surely, the beat is flavored by an array of synths, rises, and basslines that assign it Pop perfection; however, these drums are powerful enough by their lonesome to lift your spirit. Lift it high into the atmosphere of this singer’s superb vocals. Through clouds of reverb and autotune, Chris Knite sings with the resplendence of his Sunshine State. As he serenades his unnamed love interest (in a fantastic mixture of English and Spanish), his voice flourishes with a lushness only Jacksonville, Florida could provide; making for an earth-shaking R&B hit. Love is in the air this summer and, thanks to Chris Knite’s latest, it’ll remain that way for the rest of 2019. Singlehandedly, he’ll have us all “Ready For Love”.

Your summer needed this! A vibrant, bass-bouncing anthem that will light your next house party on fire. With three minutes of slick rap, and alternative trap production, that is precisely what BT The Artist provides. “Hunny”— his amorous May hit— is the theme song to every romance that has blossomed this season; and through its capacious sound, will be a banger for many summers to come. BT needs no assistance on this record, vying instead to totally enliven the track on his own. Between bars about pursuing a potential significant other, whilst lyrically coasting this danceable beat, the Massachusetts rapper likewise calls attention to his Hispanic background. Beautifully, he spins references to ‘Bachata’, ‘Pasada’ and ‘Salsa’—extremely meaningful dances in Hispanic culture— into one of his verses, backed by a party-rocking chant that frequents his chorus. This style of songwriting truly attributes to the rhythm of the song, gifting “Hunny” a pleasurable and dance-ready aura few, independent songs can acquire. BT The Artist’s latest amazement could easily scale the Pop charts; and if the right hands were behind him, pushing along the way, this East Coast emcee could easily be mainstream. With that success, he’ll be giving the game exactly what it needs: supreme lyricism over spirited instrumentals. Press play, and make your summer better than before with “Hunny”.

Why they always fuckin’ with me? No, I don’t give a fuck ‘bout One Time!” Since the reign of T-Pain, the city of Tallahassee has been starved of a star. Places such as Broward County and Miami have been the focus-point of Florida Hip-Hop for years now, leaving T-Town silently in the shadows. That is until K'NO dropped. Although the rapper is now based out of Los Angeles, he represents Tallahassee whole-heartedly; using his savage 2019 single, “ONE TIME”, to cast some rays back on his Gunshine home. Certainly, a star resides in this lyricist, capable of ascribing another face to Tallahassee’s growing list of greats. Only difference between K'NO, and the autotune icon before him, is that this emcee’s artistry hardly caters to the radio. Over hats, snares, and 808s, K'NO is inexplicably cutthroat. His bars are riddled with the ruthless realities of Tallahassee’s streets, matched with clever metaphors regarding the life he lives within them. “ONE TIME” is not a single detail shy of the grittiness, swagger and grime overtaking other areas of Florida. In fact, it may be even better, given that it pumps with an energy only K'NO can accord. This record will be dropping on all platforms May 23rd, and an album will be following it as soon as Miso Rich Entertainment gives the word. Until then, you can catch K'NO’s “ONE TIME” on Youtube; and watch this T-Town talent’s numbers quickly climb.

It’s irresistibly soulful. The way the tranquil, yet iridescent chords of Razzion’s “Faded” mesh seamlessly with waving ambience and gilded guitars. Perhaps, such is to be expected of a track so wholly devoted to love: as, the moment this New Jersey spitter parts his lips, we are warped into his world of romance and charm. “Let’s get comfortable in a coup / Make love into a loop...” If the amorous production aforementioned failed to set the tone, these first two bars will. Complimented by his calm flow, Razzion’s lyrics wholeheartedly inspirit the intention of this boom-bap banger. To whomever “Faded” is dedicated, the message resounds loud and clear: Razzion is intoxicated with her love. It is a phenomenon millions of us can relate to, which will make it an undeniable cruise down memory lane, the moment you press play. As the first single from his upcoming album, “Faded” is marvelous. It is lovingly subtle, yet packs a poignant punch; as we can expect his full-length to do upon its ultimate drop.

His latest mixtape is on the way, and in that vein, Jody Moet could not resist giving us a taste. That taste is “Hold Up”: a bubbly, yet torrid showcase of this Northwestern emcee’s lyrical and emotional capacity. Being one of the most recent drops from his projected full-length, LIONHEARTED, it should come as no surprise that this three-minute banger completely embodies the spirit of his mixtape’s title. Sidestep the tropical essence of “Hold Up”’s melodies and instrumentation, and you are left with growling 808’s, prancing percussions, and a roar of relative rhymes. For, within these well-rapped verses, Jody Moet bears the dint of his lion-esque soul. He has been betrayed and abandoned more times than he can count; yet, just as the trap drums continue to beat throughout the mix, so has his heart, throughout every turmoil he’s encountered. This determination to survive and overcome, that he reminds us of with every bar he delivers, is no different from the king of the jungle’s; proving that Joey Moet is the LIONHEARTED himself. “Hold Up” is a motivating anthem in that regard. A three-minute reminder that you too can overcome life’s catastrophes, no matter their capacities. In need of a banger whose message is just as great as its groove? Look no further than “Hold Up”; and keep your ears open for LIONHEARTED, dropping June 28th.
