“You see the haters coming?! You hear the hate?!” They have made a legacy out of championing success. Albeit before, they leaned in a financial direction, with their latest single, Koinda Records is spotlighting a different avenue of accomplishment. Charged by the energetically phenomenal emcee, Ace Burns (who heads the label), Koinda presents “Boss Fit”— an anthemic banger aimed to push the ladies through their fall flexes and winter workouts, closing 2019.

Yes, essentially, “Boss Fit” is a gym smash; dedicated particularly to health/fitness and physical achievement. It sports a spirited, almost electronic melody that is boomed by 808s and trap percussions. Ace Burns blends seamlessly into this See See Beats-produced world of sounds with an even greater blitz of power; delivering a torrent of well-timed, motivating rhymes. Perhaps the biggest gym anthem since Kanye West’s “Workout Plan”, “Boss Fit” is a titanic tribute to female trainers and trainees worldwide. Likewise, it is another push for Ace Burns, and his Koinda imprint, towards spreading inspiration, with zero hesitation, across the globe.

It is utterly insane how electric Jetcity Records can make a twenty-two track project sound. With their long-awaited debut, “Welcome To Jet City”, this high-flying Hip-Hop collective takes compilation albums to new, modern-trap heights.

Peep the sweet video interview with JetCity Records:

Almost every track on “Welcome To Jet City” is a profound posse cut. Loco 2k, Nucky JMC, Rup Monsta, Skyler, Big Ox, Aye Michelle, and Ag Souljah are the prominent pyromaniacs of the album; blazing through hooks and verses with lyricism and inflections that keep the energy at an all time high. What is likewise captivating about “Welcome To Jet City” is that it is not a constant stream of original content. Rocking the ride, every now and then, is the turbulence of mainstream remixes. “Thotiana” by Blueface; “Lil Bebe” by Danileigh; “Middle Child” by J Cole; “Going Bad” by Meek Mill and Drake; each one of these records are terrifically remixed by the talents on this album, steering it into clouds of spontaneous exhilaration. Certainly, “Welcome To Jet City” may intimidate you with the length of its tracklist. However, once play is pressed, and the debut opus truly takes off, you will not regret a single song. With such an invigorating list of bangers, this soaring collective simply cannot be shot down.

Twenty years down the line, the conscious blood of Hip-Hop’s Golden Era is still flowing through the veins of our culture. At the heart of it all sits Dutch rapper, Kynn; and his latest contribution, “Jacob” (featuring Bryan Shortell), is keeping it beating stronger than ever. The Leiden, Netherlands resident utterly snaps on this record. Buoyed atop the silky guitars, and hard-hitting, rock ballad drums of his instrumental, Kynn dives into a poignant story of Jacob: a kid going through the cruel, torturous tribulation of bullying in high school. With bars galore, and a soul-touching inflection to match, the European emcee uses his three and a half minutes of runtime to spearhead a sonic campaign against the epidemic. Obviously, it is pathed to succeed; because, not only will a massive amount of awareness be summoned by this single, but the single, in and of itself, is musically outstanding. Bryan Shortell, a New York artist, provided the hook, and in a gust of beautifully sung vocals, totally brings “Jacob” home. Certainly, the Golden Era legends would be proud of Kynn. For, alongside making magnificent music, filled with conscious, heart-shaking rhymes, this Netherland talent is actually standing for something. In the climate of Hip-Hop’s today, wherein myriad rappers are on their hands and knees, that trait alone makes Kynn invaluable. #nomorebullyshit

Some people travel so much, they become an amalgamation of every place they visit. They journey to a new region and easily assimilate into that culture, amazingly making it their own. East Coast rapper, Ray Reaves is one of those people. After a recent move to Toronto, Canada (likewise attaining permanent residence), the chameleon artist offers us “The Only One”; a passionate bop that is more Toronto than your favorite Toronto act. At the very least, it comes dangerously close. “The Only One” is teeming with melody. In crooning to a special someone, Ray Reaves bares the dint of his melodious soul. Certainly, the track upholds a Hip-Hop bounce: colorful synths backed by pattering trap drums. A verse from the emcee even channels his East Coast heritage: raw with lyrical aggression. However, the atmosphere on “The Only One” is insanely alt-R&B. The same alt-R&B forwarded by the stars of OVO Sound. With this record, Ray Reaves adds his own flavor to the sound of his newfound home. What comes of that is an astounding, radio-hungry banger. Give “The Only One” a play, and you too will be counting down the days until Ray Reaves is Canada’s next heralded star.

An alluring melody, matched with rattling hihats, are the first sounds you’ll hear on “Upset Stomach”. That is before Brasko attacks the modern-trap beat with a torrent of bars. The moment this Nebraskan upstart opens his mouth, the speaker-shaking banger can not be stopped. It’s evident that Brasko has been rapping since his youth. The lyrics and flow you will hear on this two minute and forty-three second foray are the markings of a rapper whose found his path. “Upset Stomach” is exclusively for the flexers of the world. It radiates with charisma and confidence; sustained by Brasko’s unwavering presence on the mic. One of Brasko’s greatest motivations is his brother, who passed in 2012. He certainly does him proud with “Upset Stomach”; for, it is an anthem that’ll see the Omaha talent rise to the top.

“She said ‘I’m not that type of girl’ / So, I said, ‘What type of girl are you?’” By no means will you often-time run across a street-hardened, trap anthem dedicated to the ladies. A joint that real ones can innately relate to, and bump shamelessly for their significant other. To many, making a record that embraces both worlds is challenging; however, for Augusta, Georgia, J-Roc 3D, it is an effortless feat. Without breaking a sweat, J-Roc 3D has cranked out “Pull Up”: a four minute banger that blends the hardcore, Southern trap sound with lyrics that praise real women world wide. On “Pull Up”, the Peach State rapper fully embellishes a woman whose earned his unyielding affection. Through holding him down, this woman has J-Roc 3D ready to “Pull Up” on her parents and confess his love. As tender as these lyrics may be, the song’s sinister production and J-Roc 3D’s gritty, Dirty South delivery make its street-leaning allure irrefutable. It is a unique, Georgia smash, bound to be played on every block in Augusta and beyond. Although, Valentines Day has passed, you can still “Pull Up” and show your lady some gangsta love. Give it a spin, and peep the music video at the link.

A viral, dance trend is the only thing standing between Brandnew Swayy and mainstream stardom. When he drops the music video and challenge to his latest record, “Just Jig”, he’ll shatter the glass ceiling and immediately rocket into fame. A vibrant, herculean kick, guided by the gush of an 808, is the first thing you’ll hear on this titanic release, “Emotional”. It is an outstanding musical commencement, for it beautifully segues into the iridescent vocals of Sassy Vee; and the “Break Free” EP cut, in an instant, transforms into the sonic ride of a lifetime. “Emotional” is Pop at its foundation; sporting a bubbly, electronic synth that sparkles about the peripherals of piano chords and trap snares. However, the San Diego-born, New Haven-based singer, unleashes pure R&B onto the microphone. She croons, melodizes and harmonizes with the dint of her sprightly soul; squeezing a sensual, amorous jam out of the record. Her voice, truly, hearkens to R&B/Neo-Soul eras of the past, and Sassy Vee masterfully matches it with a cutting-edge sound. In little under three-minutes and thirty seconds, alongside showing she’s a upcoming talent to keep our eyes on next year, she makes certain that her “Break Free” EP is what we’ll keep our ears on for the end of this one. And “Emotional”, in all of its romantic glory, is the ideal appetizer.

As much as Hollywood yearns to convince us, through its myriad, mainstream celebrities and entertainment, life is far from utopic. On the contrary, for most of us, it is plagued with darkness, disaster and dire tribulation. No better is this true trio magnified, than on Pennsylvanian rapper, J. Asadi’s, latest project, “Lazarus Experiment”. On this seven-track opus, the New Castle native wears his heart on his sleeve; stitched by haunting, hip-hop production and painful lyricism. Much of the rapper’s subject matter revolves around his personal plights and predicaments. His intro track, “The Invitation” maps his entire life story; one full of abuse, betrayal and suffering. Yet, the magical thing about this artist is his unstoppable willpower. You can see it in the titles of his subsequent tracks (“Never Fall”, “Keep Rollin”, and “Sky Is The Limit”), J. Asadi is not one to fall victim to his struggles. The greater message on this album is, instead of losing yourself to your painful past, use it as fuel for grinding towards a fortunate future. For that’s exactly what this emcee is determined to do. He may have been down and out in the past, but by the slam of trap drums, cataclysmic melody, and strong, lyrical delivery, J. Asadi proves to be Lazarus; resurrected, reborn and renewed, with a commitment to greatness unlike any you’ve heard before.

A popping drum loop, seasoned by hihats, lush kicks and a sparkling snap, introduces JRS3’s fresh, new single, “Run”. Eventually, an electronic synth buzzes into the mix, slithering across the percussion with the Fort Wayne rapper’s rhymes in tow. On this record, JRS3 flexes his penchant for metaphors. With his dark, doggish delivery, the Texan is relentless; detailing countless ways by which we should “Run” from his lyrical onslaught. Its sinister, yet experimental; borrowing the attitude of horrorcore for its verses, and energy of heavy rock throughout the chorus. Sharp, riotous guitar chords blaze underneath the hook of this song, making “Run” a cyborg of genres, with JRS3 at its creative helm. Very much so, by the end of the three minute and thirteen second run time, this Southern emcee proves just how comfortably he exists outside the conventions of hip-hop. He is unorthodox and unpredictable; traits that will guarantee him an iconic “Run” in the incredible realm of underground rap.
